What a week of no internet access can do for you

Some of my Holiday Cards

Refreshed, recharged, relaxed, ready for the New Year! That's what a week of no internet access can do for you. You should try it sometime, if you haven't before. It is important to have breaks like this now and then so as to be able to do other things that are important especially during the holidays - travel with one's family, enjoy the company of friends for a hearty meal, laugh, dance, climb, ride trains with ala Jason Bourne. I met up with friends I've not seen in a year and met their new partners as well. It was all good. It was good to see new cities and try to practice another language. It was interesting to view world news while on travel (Reuters UK Photo Year in Review, Bhutto, Knut in Hollywood, European Athletics, the Good Riddance Shredder, and more) as the approach may or may not be different from what we, North Americans, may be accustomed to depending on your perspective.

Perspective comes into well.. perspective, when one is on travel. A reason why I go to museums is to see what is viewed as important and valuable to the curators of that locality as well as how they put together pieces to create a story. It shows their perspective of their world through their own lens. We do the same in our work. As instructional designers we storyboard. As facilitators/instructors/trainers, we interpret the material and make it fun for our learners. As leaders, we create a safe environment where our staff can flourish. But with further reading and research, maybe travel, and inclusion of validated models, that experience is enhanced.

It's all about our perspective and how that translates positively to those around us. Happy New Year!

I went a whole month without internet access a couple of months ago and thought that I would go crazy, but actually I did not miss it as much as I probably should have.
